Richard E. Richardson

Richard E. Richardson, 91, of Palm Bay, Florida, died peacefully in his sleep on June 10th, 2018. Mr. Richardson was born on December 3,1926 in Derry, NH to Herbert and Beatrice Richardson.

A proud Veteran of World War II, Richard enlisted in the US Navy and was on Active Duty in the Armed Guard from 1943-1946. Signalman Second Class Petty Officer Richardson then served in the US Navy Reserves until 1950, at which time he was discharged from the US Naval Service with full honors.

Richard married his skating rink partner, Lucille B. Vandal, in Worcester, MA in 1949. The couple welcomed three daughters, who remember their Dad with admiration and respect.

Mr. Richardson had an impressive career with the NE Teamsters Union, employed by Bay State Tobacco Company. He was recognized as the leading Sales Representative until his retirement in 1988. Mr. and Mrs. Richardson permanently retired to Palm Bay, FL, at which time Richard began yet another impressive career holding every office, including dedicated Exalted Ruler, at Elks Lodge #1744, Melbourne, FL in 1997.

Richard excelled in athletics, was an accomplished ball room dancer, a skilled carpenter and an avid animal lover. He was a generous, witty, and dedicated man, and a father who encouraged his daughters to pursue their goals.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Helen Richardson, who died in infancy; his sister, Alice Neish, who passed in 2016; brother, Ernie Richardson; and his grandson, Jeffrey Cullina, who lost his 8-year battle with brain cancer in 2013 at the age of 37. He is survived by his wife, Lucille B. Richardson; three daughters, Cheryl Cullina, Karen Richardson, Nancy Richardson; son-in-law William Cullina; 3 grandsons, Michael, James, and Jonathan; 7 great grandchildren, and his brother Bruce Richardson.

Mr. Richardson will forever remain with his departed Veteran comrades at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL, where Memorial Day Ceremonies are held to honor and perpetuate the memory of all deceased Veterans and to promote world peace.
