Obituary
Richard Fossett “Dick” Hearn Sr., 83, of Calabash, NC, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018.
Richard was born on June 14, 1935, in Baltimore, MD to the late Robert Hearn and Mary Ellen Fossett Henley. He served our country as a member of the Air Force. He continued to serve his community as a firefighter, contractor, entrepreneur, as well as various jobs in the health and medical fields. Richard was a life member of the Chancellor Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department of Spotsylvania, VA, The City of Alexandria Retired Police, Fire, and Sheriff Association, and the VFW Fredericksburg. Richard was a generous soul who never meant a stranger and dedicated his life to helping others.
In addition to his parents he is proceeded in death by an infant son, James Hearn; brother, Robert Hearn; and sister, Mary Ellen Hull.
Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara; sons, Richard Hearn Jr., Christopher Hearn and wife Christina; brother, William Hearn and wife Jane; grandchildren, Richard, Jeremy, Dakota, Heather and husband Kyle; great grandson, Tyler; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Prayer Service will be conducted on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 in St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Shallotte NC at 10:00AM the family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to made to The University of Virginia Cancer Center in Charlottesville, or a local hospice house of your choice.
