Obituary
Richard Francis Napoli, age 83, of Southport, NC, died Sunday, January 16, 2022.
Richard was born in Bronx, NY to Salvatore Napoli and Blanche La Blanc on December 30, 1938 and grew up in Kinderhook, NY.
Richard spent most of his career working for IBM, which afforded his family the wonderful experience of traveling all over the world, living in three different counties: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Tokyo, Japan; and Hong Kong, China. He and his wife Lynn and family traveled to many amazing and exotic locations, including numerous countries across Asia, Europe, Africa, North America, and South America.
Richard enjoyed skiing and tennis in his younger days and golf and fishing after he retired. In his free time, he was a skilled carpenter and was known for his woodworking.
Richard will be remembered and forever loved by his wife of 59 years, Lynn, and their children: Peter Napoli and his wife Jennifer, Christine DePinto (née Napoli) and her husband Dominick, and Elizabeth Scannell (née Napoli) and her husband Michael; their grandchildren: Simeon Napoli and his wife Sarah, Benjamin Napoli, Charissa Napoli, Judah Napoli, Lauren Bomberger (née DePinto) and her husband Richard, Michael DePinto, Madeleine Scannell, and Thomas Scannell; and their great granddaughter: Arabella Napoli.
Due to COVID-19, a private celebration of life will take place for immediate family. A reception will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who wish to honor Richard’s life make a donation to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Hospice.
