Richard William Simonetti

Richard William Simonetti, 80, of Calabash, NC, passed away on October 26, 2021 surrounded by his family following a period of illness.

Richard was the beloved husband of 53 years to his wife Diane, an amazing father to three daughters and three sons-in-law, an incredible grandfather to seven grandchildren and a loyal friend to all.

Born in Manhattan, NY on July 22, 1941, Richard was the son of the late Nicholas Simonetti and Margaret Kivlehan Simonetti. He lived in Manhattan, the Bronx, and raised his family in Yonkers, NY. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and was employed as a bread truck driver for 40 years. Upon retirement, he and his wife Diane made the move to Calabash, NC in 2011.

Richard was a proud New Yorker who had a tremendous love for life, his family, friends, and country. He touched many lives as a coach and mentor to youth. His uncanny wit, ability to tell a good story, and speak his mind brought laughter to many. He never missed the opportunity to make an inappropriate joke or comment on social media. He enjoyed spending time watching the NY Giants, NY Yankees, playing golf and trivia, and watching a good mobster movie. He always enjoyed a good meal and drink with family and friends.

Surviving are his wife Diane Simonetti of Calabash; daughters, Cynthia Tomassetti and husband Richard of Painesville, OH, Joann McGimpsey and husband James of Windham, NH, Donna Copenhaver and husband Ryan of Gerrardstown, WV, and grandfather to Richard, Michael, Alyssa, Jacob, Caitlin, Jenna and Jimmy.
