Obituary
Rita Joan Phillips, age 85, formerly of Calabash, NC died Monday August 5, 2019 at her son’s residence in Wilmington, NC.
She was born in Olean, NY on September 14, 1933 a daughter of the late Carl Case and Barbara Gretch Case. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Phillips, son, Bradley Phillips; brother, Bud Case and sister, Carol Dubois.
Mrs. Phillips was a long time active member of St. Brendan, The Navigator Catholic Church, where she was the organist for many years and a member of the Associates Group.
Surviving are two sons, Rodney Phillips and wife, Karen of Pendleton, NY and David Phillips of Wilmington, NC; two daughters, Lorrie Rigby of Oregon and Karen Vineyard of Whiteville, NC; a grandson, Case Leo Phillips and seven other grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A mass will be held at 10 am Thursday August 8, 2019 at St. Brendan Catholic Church.
There will be a time of visitation on Wednesday August 7, 2019 from 6 to 8 PM at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte Chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Sisters of St. Francis, 115 Main Street, Allegany, NY 14706.
