Obituary
Rita June Canfield, 79, of Ash, NC died peacefully on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Rita was born on June 14, 1945, in Beacon, NY and was a daughter of the late Nicholas Joseph Daddario and Rosa Luciani Rivera. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in death by her husband, Grant A. Canfield, III and a daughter Nila Canfield Gates.
Rita was one of the founding members of St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church, were she served as a devoted and faithful parishioner within the church. She was involved in several other noteworthy organizations, which include being a contributing founder of the Brunswick County Homeless Coalition, a long-term member of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, a member of the Prison Ministry in Brunswick County, and caregiver provider for Comprehensive Home Healthcare & Hospice.
Survivors include a son Grant A. Canfield, IV and a daughter Tammie Galey, both of Ash, NC; and two grandchildren Alex Christopher Canfield and Nicholas Anderson.
A Funeral Mass will be announced at a later date to be held in the St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church, with inurnment following in the church columbarium.
The family ask that in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to the following charitable organizations in honor of Rita’s life.
