Robert “Bob” Kern Molloy, Jr., 83, of Calabash, NC passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
Bob was born on May 23, 1942, in Upper Darby, PA and was the son of the late Robert Kern Molloy, Sr. and Colleen Jenkins Molloy.
Bob accomplished many achievements in his lifetime. He was a 1960 graduate of Monsignor Bonnor High School. Bob continued his education at Rutgers University earning a Finance & Accounting degree in 1971. In 1994, he earned a master’s degree in Consumer Resource & Development from University of Pennsylvania. Bob was employed with Strawbridge & Clothier for 32 years, where he served as Controller and Assistant Board Secretary. When Strawbridge & Clothier decided to sell, Bob was given the job of CFO where he handled the liquidation trust for 5 years. He was the last employee of the company when it finally closed on December 31, 2001, which led to his retirement.
In the fall of 2001, Bob met Elaine and they were happily married on October 2, 2002. During those years they had a loving, happy, and fulfilling marriage that focused on volunteering, religious beliefs, leisurely activities, their love for their many rescued animals throughout the years, and supporting and volunteering for many veterans’ organizations.
Bob is survived by his wife Elaine(Lainie) Molloy; three children, Margaux Janson (Ivo), Robert Molloy, and Martin(Drew) Molloy (fiancée Lori Coffey); grandchildren, Ashley Molloy,Cory Molloy, Haley Molloy,Sean MolloyTyler JansenColette Molloyand IanMolloy; sister Bonnie McLeod (Bill); half-sisters Debbye Silva (Tim) and Lynn; and their dogs Cody and Molly and their cat Jillie Jillie. Cody and Bob had a very special bond.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 10:00am in Saint Brendan, the Navigator Catholic Church (5105 Ocean Hwy West, Shallotte, NC 28470). Following the funeral mass everyone is invited to Brendan Hall for a reception.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made in memory of Bob to the following organizations of your choice: The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach (409 Bay Street, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582), Paws-Ability (PO Box 6174, Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469) or St. Brendan, the Navigator Catholic Church (5105 Ocean Hwy West, Shallotte, NC 28470).
