Obituary
Robert Dennis Curtis, currently of Oak Island, NC, formerly a 65 year resident of Kernersville, NC, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the age of 86. Robert was born in Burnsville, NC on January 23, 1939, to William Alfonso Curtis and Mary June Curtis. He graduated from Burnsville High School, class of 1957.
Robert was predeceased by his father, William Curtis, his mother Mary Curtis; and his son-in-law Michael G. Buhl. He is survived by his wife of 67 years: Anettia McCurry Curtis; his brother, James Curtis and his wife, Shirley Curtis, of Clyde, NC; his daughter, Tamerha Curtis Buhl, of Oak Island, NC; his granddaughter, Shannon Dahmer of Wilmington, NC, and his grandson, Christopher Dahmer and his partner, Jerry Hamm of Alamogordo, NM.
Robert worked in the trucking industry his entire professional career. He was an avid outdoor person that enjoyed amateur photography, golf, and working in his yard. He was very active in his church, Main Street Baptist Church, and served as a deacon.
Robert’s Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, March 19th, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Main Street Baptist Church, Kernersville, NC with Pastor Gene Lancour officiating. A graveside service will be held at West Burnsville Baptist Church at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 20th, 2025, with Cameron Smith officiating.
