Obituary
Robert Edwin Miller, 84, of Sunset Beach passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 after a 19 month battle with cancer.
Robert was born in New York City on September 11, 1934 to the late George and Mabel Miller. He served our country as a member of the Army National Guard. On September 8, 1956, he married the love of his life, Mary Lou. Together they lived in Connecticut, Maryland, and retired in North Carolina. He was 4th degree Knights of Columbus with the Montgomery Council 2323. He worked in finance for IBM for 36 years, later to become a volunteer fireman with the town of Sunset Beach for 18 years. He enjoyed his work on the finance committee for the Sea Trail Master Association. He Loved Sunset Beach and enjoyed playing golf, but he loved his family most. He was a good man who will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Richard and two sisters, Janet and Cathy.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Lou; sons, Stephen Miller and partner Darleen of Hagerstown, MD, Robert “Bobby” Miller and husband Clayton of Palm Springs, CA; daughter, Marianne Moulet and husband Patrick of Crofton, MD; grandchildren, Juliette and Eric Moulet; and many loved nieces and nephews.
A mass will be held on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 10am in St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church. A celebration of his life will be held at the Pink Palace in Sea Trail, Sunset Beach, following the mass.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in his name to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
