Obituary
Robert Eugene (Gene) McCune of Clayton, N.C. Formerly from Sunset Beach, was called home to be with his Lord on Sunday Feb. 26, 2017. Mr. McCune was born in Gassaway, WV, on October 17, 1925 to Carl and Eunice McCune. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Jean McCune and Brothers Richard and Ralph and two grandchildren Robbie and Bryan. He served in the Navy during WWII. Gene lived a Christ like life and was actively involved in the Lay Witness Ministry and taught Sunday school until his health prevented him from doing so. He was a proud father, grandfather and great grandfather. His family was an important part of his life. He cherished and enjoyed every visit with his family.
He is survived by two sons Robert Eugene McCune II and wife Karen Currin McCune of Lillington and David Michael McCune of Fayetteville. Four grandchildren Patrick and wife Heidi, Phillip and wife Meta, David Jr. and Sarah Valentine and husband Matthew. Ten grandchildren Kelsey, Joshua, Samantha, Jessica, Morgan, Michael, Jackson, Harper, Jonah and Brooke.
Funeral service will be held on March 11th at 11:00 AM, at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte. Interment will be at Seaside Methodist Church following the ceremony.
A reception will be held at HT’s Barn, 3972 NC Hwy 87 N, Sanford, NC 27332 on Sunday, March 5, from 2:00-4:00 PM.
