Robert Henry Dwyer passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on February 27, 2021 at his home in Carolina Shores, NC. Robert was born on May 31, 1945 in Oak Ridge, TN to Orrington Embry Dwyer and Norval (Kramer) Dwyer. He graduated from Earl L. Vandermeulen High School in Port Jefferson, NY and from Northeastern University in Boston with his Bachelor’s degree.

Robert was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Berkeley Heights, NJ where he served as an Elder. He was also a member of the Pittsburgh, PA chapter of Toastmasters International, the Model A Ford Club and the BOAZ Masonic Lodge #669 in Toledo, OH. Robert had a love of cars and was the proud owner of a 1936 Ford sedan and a 1928 Ford Model A. He liked nothing more than taking his antique cars out for drives and introducing the cars to interested bystanders.

Robert started his business career with Ford Motor Company. When he left Ford, he began a long career in the used machinery industry. He thrived when involved with the purchase and sale of machinery while employed by Weldon F. Stump Co in Toledo, OH, J&G Machinery in Holland, OH, Gosiger Machinery in Dayton, OH and finally National Machinery Exchange in Newark, NJ. Robert retired from National Machinery Exchange after more than 30 years of service.

Robert is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dianne (Daniels) Dwyer, of Carolina Shores, NC; his son, Matthew Ryan Dwyer and two grandsons, Harlan James and Levi John, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; his brother, William (Judy) Dwyer, of Somerville, TN; his sister, Constance (Bruce) Burck, of Bridgewater, NJ and several nieces and nephews. Robert was pre-deceased by his parents.

A Memorial Service will be held in Berkeley Heights, NJ at a later date. Donations in Robert’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
