Obituary
Robert (Bob) John Wiltbank of Calabash, NC passed away at age 78 on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC. Bob was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Chillum, MD. He was the beloved son of Russell and Virginia Wiltbank who predeceased him.
Bob graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland and dedicated much of his life to the financial services industry. He was the COO/CFO of Laurel Federal Savings and Loan where his leadership and integrity were widely respected.
He was a past member of the Bladensburg Rotary in Maryland, former President of Brunswick Plantation’s Homeowner’s Association and a board member for Brunswick County Utilities. In his younger years, Bob was a captain with the Berwyn Heights Fire Department & Rescue Squad.
A man of many interests Bob was an avid reader and enjoyed a wide range of hobbies including golf, softball, bowling and woodworking. He traveled extensively with family and friends, especially enjoying the many 4ths of July weeks and fall weekends spent with his extended Capon Springs & Farms family in WV.
For 48 years Bob enjoyed life to the fullest with his wife Ann by his side. She was the love of his life, and he cherished her more than anything in the world. They raised their family in Harwood, MD and upon their retirement from the banking world Bob and Ann built their retirement dream home in Brunswick Plantation, filling it with the warmth of their endearing love for one another. Their unwavering devotion and commitment to each other was effortless and one could not help but admire their profound and inseparable connection.
All who knew Bob will remember him by his sharp wit, playful sense of humor, and endearing spirit. He was one who couldn’t resist a little mischief often at the expense of friends and family but always with love in his heart. Bob touched countless lives and was a true friend to so many. He had a special bond with his dear Lhasa Apso, Cassie, who would often howl along while Bob sang in the shower. He could frequently be found sipping his favorite drink of Jack & Coke and was an enthusiastic storyteller who loved sharing tales of his past.
Bob was predeceased by his loving wife Ann Cerise (Coburn). He is survived by their daughter Christie Palmroos & her husband Sven Erik, his 4 grandchildren Kody, Brooke Jessop & her husband Zach, Reaghan and AJ, great-granddaughter Kardyn Jessop, his sister Joan Tomasello, brother Raymond & his wife Wanda, his nephew Michael Tomasello & his wife Brenda & their son Roman, his niece Jennifer McMillan & her husband Adam & their daughter Abby, daughter-in-law Ashlee McGee & her husband RJ and countless friends.
We ask that you remember Bob not for the way his life ended but for the way it was lived.
