Obituary
Robert LeRoy Smith passed peacefully at his home in Carolina Shores on January 14, 2017. He was 87 years old.
Robert was born on September 21, 1930 and raised in Nanuet, NY. A Korean War Army Veteran, he married his wife Janice and raised a family in Rockland County, NY. There he was an IBEW union member throughout his career in the electrical sign industry.
Robert and Janice (married for 62 years) retired to Carolina Shores in 1992. They enjoyed the beach, traveling, were members of the Calabash Presbyterian Church, and were both golfers. Robert played with the Beachcombers golf group for many years.
Robert is survived by his son, Craig Smith of Carolina Shores; his daughter and son-in-law, Dot and John Pinckney of NY; his grandchildren, Tristan and Travis Smith, Jane and Steven Pinckney; and many nieces and nephews.
Family, friends, and neighbors loved him dearly. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 11:00 am at Calabash Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calabash Presbyterian Church.
