Robert M. Pidgeon, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 85. He was a resident of Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Born on May 4, 1941, in Ossining, New York, Robert lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to his family, career, and passions.
Robert spent much of his professional life as an employee of Metro North in Croton, New York. His work ethic and commitment to his career were evident throughout his years of service. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Robert found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid golfer and softball player who cherished time on the course as well as the ball field. Robert was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants. When not cheering for his favorite teams or perfecting his golf swing, Robert could often be found tending to his yard—a pastime he greatly enjoyed. Robert was a lifetime members of the Elks.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn J. Pidgeon; his sons Robert (Kyle McCarthy) Pidgeon of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; and Anthony (Amy) Pidgeon their sons, grandchildren of Nazareth, PA; his daughter Tricia (George King) Pidgeon along with her children and grandchildren of Saugerties, NY; his stepson Bradley (KC) Wheeler and their sons of Fuquay-Varina, NC; and his brother Michael Pidgeon of Massachusetts. He also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews who brought him great joy over the years.
Robert was predeceased by Patricia Pidgeon, the mother of his children; as well as his siblings Larry, Deborah, Jackie, Denise and stepson Gregory Wheeler.
May Robert’s memory bring comfort to those who loved him and inspire others to cherish their own families and passions as he did so deeply. Arrangements will be private.
