Robert "Rob" Rose
Obituary
Robert “Rob” Rose, 61 Ocean Isle Beach, NC died June 20, 2023. A loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend to all. Rob was born in Bronx, NY to John & Patricia Rose, both deceased. He was predeceased by his father-in-law Thomas McDonough and his nephew Raymond Sanfilippo.
Rob was the owner and operator of K & R Service Station in New York for over 15 years. He moved to Virginia and was employed by Shirley Slack for 16 years. Rob was always working whether it be at the shop, in his development, helping out a neighbor, no job was too big or too small. Many times he would be out on the lake fixing a neighbor's boat as well. Rob loved to tinker. He had a special love for building small models and would often gift them out to family and friends. He took such pride in his hobby and would spend endless hours tinkering until it was just right. Even up until his last days, Rob was caught sneaking upstairs trying to get the finishing touches on a project. Rob loved cooking (especially his famous stuffed cheesy meatballs which were served mostly at Christmastime), boating, spending time with family & friends and also especially finding new breweries and vineyards. Rob’s true love was fast cars. Where over the years had acquired a few. His most recent, 1970 Hugger Orange Camaro was his latest. Everyone would know he was coming around with the rumbling of the car. It was a crowd pleaser and Rob was so proud as he drove it. Rob was a special kind of man where if someone was in need of his help, he would be there, whether it be his day off, time away from his family or just pulling in from a long day’s work. He wanted to help everyone. Rob never met a stranger.
Rob is survived by his wife Kathy (McDonough) Rose, they had been high-school sweethearts, together for over 42 years, the memories they shared throughout their lives will be cherished and remembered daily; his son Andrew Rose of Fredericksburg, Virginia; his daughter Jessica Rose of Wilmington, NC; his 2 granddaughters, Anais, age 9, Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Tilly, age 1, Wilmington, NC. Family was very important to Rob and loved his littles dearly. Always looking forward to the next visit with his little girls. Rob was also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Patti & Robert Pellicci, Florida; sister and brother-in-law Nanci & Michael Sanfilippo, NY; mother-in-law Joanne McDonough; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tom & Ginger McDonough, VA; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carrie & John Ghiggeri, NY; brother-in-law Danny McDonough. Fla.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Sean & Missy McDonough, NY; nieces, Christie, Laura, Katie, Meghan, Liz, Sara & Jordyn; nephews, Mike Jr., John, Anthony, Robert, Jason, Matthew, TJ, Nick and Luke.
All who have wonderful memories together, some of the best they all enjoyed was visiting and taking a ride on the boat where Uncle Rob would try and throw them off the tube, watching movies and sitting around talking.
