Robert Sesco Willetts, III

Robert Sesco Willetts, III

On June 1, 2017, just one day after his 74th birthday, Robert Sesco Willetts III met Jesus, His Creator and Savior, face to face, where he heard, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”

Robert was the mischievous and rambunctious son of R.S. and Marjorie Willetts. He grew up in Bolivia along with his beloved sister, Dianne Willetts Gregory, who preceded him in death, and his brother, Terry Willetts. Robert was always busy playing basketball, football, and baseball at Bolivia High School where he graduated in 1961. He went on to attend Georgia Tech until 1964 when he began his service as a proud sailor in the United States Navy. He was honored to serve his county.

Robert was a loving and faithful husband and father. He was a perfect role model for his children. He was the first person to show them Jesus, and throughout his life he was a reflection of the love of Christ. Robert’s priorities were always: God, family, and others. He was an active and fun dad and always made time for his children by coaching ball teams, going on fun vacations, and taking them out on the boat. Robert was loved by many, but no one loved him more than his dear wife. Robert and Sherry were married for 39 years and have four children: Linnette Nuckles of Little River, SC; Tammie Newsome (Rudy) of Ayden, NC; Jeremy Royal of Bolivia, NC; and Cortnee Pierce (Jeremy) of Durham, NC. They have eight beautiful grandchildren: Karlee, Kailee, Olivia, Gabriel, Allison, Alex, Ivory, and Christian. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren!

Robert was active member of his church where he served as a deacon and music minister for almost 50 years. He loved to sing! He had a beautiful voice, and he used it to minister to so many.

Robert has left a Godly legacy for his wife, children, and all others who loved him. If you knew Robert, you knew a man of integrity, loyalty, and Godly character. He will be greatly missed, but he is now singing and dancing at the feet of Jesus.

Services will be held at Robert’s home church, Bolivia Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will be at 2:00, and the funeral service will be at 3:00 on Sunday, June 4, 2017. Family will also receive people at Robert and Sherry’s home. The service will be led by Rev. Chris Driggs and Rev. Jack Edge. Pallbearers include those who loved Robert and whom Robert loved: Russ Gregory, Edsel Hickman, Ronnie Drew, Tommy Gore, Kenny Scott, Dean Bowling, and Hunter Jones.
