Roddie Lane Smith, 78, of Calabash, NC, died January 18, 2022. He was born in Brunswick County, NC, on March 19, 1943, a son of the late Effie Smith and Manuel Foy Smith. He was a retired tug boat captain.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Norris Smith; son, Jonathan Smith (Sharon) of Raeford, NC; daughter, Jennifer Brougher (Jason) of Godwin, NC; brother, Carl Smith of Whiteville, NC; sisters, Mae Smith of Ash and Faye Etheridge of Crusoe, NC; and grandchildren, Connor Smith, Caden Smith, Amelia Brougher, and Alexander “Alex” Brougher.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 24, 2022 at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte Chapel, with The Rev. Larry Ward officiating. Burial will be in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
