Obituary
Roy Daniel Hewett age 93 of Morgantown, WV passed August 14th, 2023 at his home. He was born August 1, 1930 in Boones Neck, near Supply, NC, a son of the late Sidney and Evy Hewett of Shallotte, NC.
After Roy retired from the Air Force as a security policeman and mechanic, he was a business owner as a mechanic, heavy equipment operator and surveyor, auctioneer, plant nursery owner, and master plumber and was a member of the Jennies Branch Church in Shallotte, NC. Roy was a talented wood worker, and owned Roy’s Fix-it Shop in Shallotte, NC near Ocean Isle Beach. Roy was a Master Mason and lifetime member of Lodge #245 in Knob Noster, Missouri.
Roy loved to cook, go fishing, read Westerns, and buy and sell items at local markets. With his wife Mary, he built his own home including all of the the electrical and plumbing work.
Roy is survived by his three sons and spouses, Paul and Cleo Hewett of Morgantown, WV, Steven Hewett of King, North Carolina, and Dan and Wendy Hewett of Parrish, Florida, and grandchildren, Steve, Adam, Kerry, Kyle, Angela, and Aaron, and great grandchildren, Kinley and Logan.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife Mary O'Gorman Hewett in December 2015, and sisters Lou Ellen Midget and Eva Gore and brother Carl Hewett.
The family will receive friends and family at a graveside service at Jennies Branch Baptist Church, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 19th 2023. Funeral service is with Pastor Mark Smith, officiating. Flowers will be accepted, but the family requests that donations be made to Action Against Hunger.
