Obituary
Rudolph Arnold Townsend, 91 of Shallotte, NC died January 20, 2022.
He was born in Crisfield, MD on October 3, 1930 a son of the late Francis Rudolph Townsend and Edna Adams Townsend. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Juanita Marshall Townsend, a daughter, Denise Townsend and a son-in-law, Tim Smith.
He was a Special Operations US Navy Veteran having served in the Korea War. He retired from the News Journal Newspaper, Wilmington, DE and the Delaware Bridge Authority and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as State Surgeon of that group.
Surviving are his son, Louis Townsend (Wendy) of Carolina Shores, NC; daughter, Patricia “Patty” Smith of Newark, DE; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Services will be at a later date in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, New Castle County, Bear, DE.
