Ruth Ann Woodard, 80, of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday February 23rd, 2023, at her residence in Ocean Ridge Plantation, leaving behind her loving husband of 62 years, George Woodard.
Born in Hartford Connecticut on February 25th, 1942, daughter of the late Arthur and Dorothy (Fuller) Dussault and predeceased by brothers, John and Raymond. She is survived by her sister, Linda Latulippe and her husband Norman who reside in Virginia.
Ruth lived in Hartford Connecticut through her teen years, and she attended Cathedral and Hartford Public High Schools. She married George in October of 1961. She was the loving mother of a daughter, Tracy Ann Gregory, who resides with her husband Bruce Gregory in North Fort Myers, Florida and a son, Gregory Woodard, who resides with his wife, Cathy, in Glen Burnie, Maryland. After her brother, John passed, his son and her nephew, Jeffery Dussault joined the family and became a loving son to Ruth and her husband.
She enjoyed and loved having her grandchildren, Megan Gregory, Brian Gregory, Kristin Woodard, Shane Woodard, Jordan Dussault and Evan Dussault visit and providing them with her grandmotherly love and advice. She enjoyed a special relationship with Daniel and Emma McCormack and loved hearing about her nieces and nephews,
In addition to motherhood, she had a career as a Workers Compensation Specialist and ended her career retiring from the Connecticut Transit Company. She and her husband after retirement moved to the Ocean Ridge Plantation, located in Ocean Isle Beach, NC. While at Ocean Ridge she developed a passion for golf, loved playing bridge, mahjong, spending time with her numerous friends and participating in community activities. She and George did extensive travel throughout the world, which she so enjoyed.
Services will be held on Monday, March 6th at 10:00 am at St. Brendan’s Church at 5101 Ocean Highway Shallotte, NC 28470. A reception will follow the service in the church hall.
