Obituary
Ruth Martha Linder, age 94, of Shallotte died peacefully, Thursday, March 20, 2025, at her home in Brierwood Estates. Ruth was born in New York City on August 4, 1930, to Ray and Jenny Sussmann and spent her childhood in Maspeth, Queens. She was married for 59 years to her teenage sweetheart, Ray Linder, who went to be with The Lord in 2010.
One of Ruth’s greatest passions was the Girl Scouts. She served as a troop leader in Nassau County, beginning in 1966 through 1978 and served on the Board of Directors from 1978 to 1984.
Ruth was also a member of the Nassau County, NY Homemakers Association from 1966-1978, serving as Vice President and Secretary.
Ruth and Ray retired to Shallotte, NC in 1986. Ruth stayed active by golfing and bowling with her friends, and she will be missed by many.
She is survived by her children: Kathleen DeBoer of Shallotte; Raymond Linder (Julie) of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren: Jack Linder, Nick Linder (Kimberly), Melissa DeBoer and Brian DeBoer (Donna): and great grandchildren, Hudson and Matthew.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Brendan Catholic Church, 5101 Ocean Hwy W Shallotte, NC 28470. Interment will follow in the church Columbarium. Please join the family for refreshments in the church hall afterward.
