Obituary
Ruth T. Gelczis Peters, 92, of Calabash, NC died Wednesday, August 9, 2017.
Born in Kearny, NJ on March 3, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John Gelczis and Anna Norvaisia Gelczis. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edmund Thomas Peters, and a brother, John Gelczis.
She was an active parishioner of St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church and served as a church cantor and lector for many years. She was a former member of The Sweet Adelines Singing Group in New Jersey.
Surviving are sons, Christopher Peters (Linda) of Barnegat, NJ, Edmund Peters (Sherry) of Brick, NJ, and Chad Peters of Calabash, NC; a sister-in-law, Ursula Gelczis of Athens, GA; and four grandchildren.
A mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 10:00 am in St Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church, Shallotte, NC. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Thursday, August 17, 2017 in the chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service.
