Obituary
Ruth Weisner King, 94, Sunset Beach, NC passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022 surrounded by her family.
She was born in Lynchburg, VA on February 11, 1928 and moved to Durham, NC at age 3.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Douschka Weisner, her son William L. King, III, and her brother Howard Weisner.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Luke King of Sunset Beach, NC; her daughters, Cindy Ward of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; her granddaughter, Angie Starnes (Joel), and three great-grandchildren of Forest, VA. Extended family, Pam K. Blalock (Danney), Durham, NC, Dale King (Vicky), Timberlake, NC, Linda K. Poole, Nancy Weisner, and Steve Weisner.
Ruth was a graduate of Hillsborough High School and Duke Medical Center for Medical Lab Technicians. She worked at Duke Medical Center for many years, and also worked for the Census Bureau.
Luke and Ruth relocated to several towns in North Carolina and Virginia due to his work with Burlington Industries. She was a devoted Christian and served her church in various positions in each town they lived in.
They retired in 1992 to Sunset Beach, NC and is a member of Calabash Covenant Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 11:00 am in Calabash Covenant Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, she requests that donations be made to Calabash Covenant Presbyterian Church, 8820 Old Georgetown Rd., Sunset Beach, NC 28468.
