Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce our beloved Sandra “Sandy” Spencer Jaeger, 71, of Sunset Beach, NC, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024, from natural causes at the SECU Hospice House in Bolivia, NC. She was surrounded by her husband, a daughter, her brothers, and her sisters-in-law.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Eugene “Gene” Jaeger; her two daughters, Elizabeth Jaeger-Decker (Chris) and Jennifer Jaeger; and her grandchildren, Talon, Ella, Charlotte, and Elora; Sandy is also survived by her sister, Barbara Martin of Austin, Texas; her brothers, Thomas Spencer, and Michael Spencer (Karen), both of Norfolk, VA; and a niece and nephew. Sandy is preceded in death by her father, Roscoe Clayton Spencer, and her mother Ellen Jones Spencer.
Born on November 6, 1952, at Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Sandy grew up in the historic Ghent neighborhood in Norfolk, Virginia. She was a Maury High School graduate and studied Communications at Radford University. Sandy pursued professional careers in Marketing, Insurance, and Financial Planning. She also started a consulting business, Jaeger Communications.
Sandy enjoyed a full life, having had the opportunity to live in some amazing places around the country and to meet interesting people along the way. She and Gene retired to Sunset Beach in 2019. Sandy loved spending time with her two dogs and her cat, family, and neighbors. Whether taking a walk along the beach, reading a good mystery novel, playing Mexican Dominoes, attending block parties, or watching TCM and Jeopardy, Sandy knew how to enjoy life. She was a member of the Catholic faith.
Sandy’s sweet nature and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family members and friends. Rest in Peace, our dear wife, mother, sister and friend, sweet Sandy.
Sandy’s Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and location to be announced.
