NAVASSA, NC – Steven Michael Mineau, 36, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on June 13, 1989, he was the beloved son of Barbara Ann Mineau and stepson to William Guy. Steven was a fixture of his community in Springfield. He was deeply adored by his neighbors in the Hungry Hill neighborhood, where he was affectionately known as the “Foreman.” His presence was a constant in warm weather, and his personality left a lasting impact on everyone who lived alongside him. Steven was a lifelong and legendary fan of Nascar a passion that bordered on obsession. He was incredibly proud of his vast collection of racing memorabilia, which featured hundreds of Matchbox cars and many cherished autographed items. Whether he was cheering for Kyle Busch or Dale Earnhardt Jr. Steven’s enthusiasm for the sport was infectious. For the past 17 years, Steven lived with his dedicated caregivers, Leah Anne Keeley and her fiancé, Porfirio Santiago. During these years, Steven was not just cared for; he was deeply loved and fully embraced as a central member of their family. In addition to his mother, Barbara, Steven is survived by his sisters, Courtney Mineau, Kiana Marie Santiago, Kayla Hernandez, and Kaitlyn Marie Santiago. brother in laws Bernard Hernandez, and Mohammad “Jose” Tanvir. Steven was a proud cousin to Armoni, Josiah, Asiais, Safari, Lance Corporal Elijah Perez, Kalleb, Amaan, Amir, Hayzil, Mya, Deion, Javoni, Anjelyna and aunt Deaa. He will be dearly missed by his "best buds," Ed, Keno, and Jerry; his loyal dog, Sam; and his favorite cactus, “Bob.” :) The family extends their deepest gratitude to the Baystate Medical Muscular Dystrophy Clinic, Pulmonology, Respiratory, Nutrition, MD Social Services, Palliative Care, PT & OT Departments, Maxim Healthcare Services, and the many other agencies that supported Steven throughout his life. A special thank you also goes to the community at Lakes At Riverbend in Navassa, NC, for the warm welcome and hospitality shown to Steven during his time there.
