Obituary
Stuart Allen South, 92, of Calabash passed away September 27, 2018. Born in Hartford, CT on June 6, 1926, he was a son of Charles South and Isadora Eno South. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-eight years, Elsie Ruch South.
He proudly served our country during World War II as a Radioman Third Class in the US Navy. He served in North Africa and Europe, and later joined the Naval Reserves and served two additional years in the Korean War aboard the USS Tanner. He retired from New York Telephone Company, (now AT&T) after thirty-five years of service and moved from Yorktown Heights, NY to Calabash, NC.
He was a Charter Member of the Calabash VFW Post 7288, and a Life Member of American Legion Post #503. He was Past Commander of US Coast Guard Auxiliary 10-08 with more than twenty-six years of service.
Surviving are his sons, Stuart Allen South, Jr. (Rose Marie) of NY, Douglas Paul South of Calabash, NC, and Roy Arthur South (Veronica) of CT; brother, Melvin South of Calabash; and four grandchildren, Stuart Allen South, III, Alexander Joseph South, Zachary Ryan South, and Lynn Marie South.
Memorial services times will be announced.
Burial will be in Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, New York.
