Obituary
Susan Lee Monroe, of Longwood, NC, passed away at home on May 19, 2023.
Celebration of Life services will be held June 17th at 11am at Beach Assembly of God, 20 Bliss Rd, Ocean Isle Beach, NC with Pastor John Chase officiating.
Susan was born in Baltimore, MD to Lawrence Keen and Marion Taylor Keen on December 21, 1952. She attended school in the Baltimore county school system. Sue attended St Thomas More Catholic Church and was honored to teach catechism classes as a youth. Sue became a dental hygienist and worked in that career for a dozen or more years while living in Baltimore. Sue also worked with Eastern Sports Outfitters and enjoyed kayaking and other outdoor adventure sports. She enjoyed her Morgan mare pleasure horse. Sue married James Monroe in Little River, SC in Nov 2006.
Susan is preceded in death by her mother, Marion Taylor, her father, Lawrence Keen, and her only son, Benjamin Lawrence Nickerson.
Susan is survived by her husband, James Monroe, her sisters Bonnie Wooten (Lutherville, MD) and Nancy Burke (Longwood, NC), her aunt, Maggie (Frederick, MD), her cousin Norma Reveal (Mobile, AL), 2 nephews, 1 niece, and her dear friend, Gail Burkin (Belair, MD).
