Obituary
Tencie Lea Benton Rider, 72, died Monday, January 9, 2017, at her home in Longwood. She was a daughter of Kirby William Benton, Sr. and Evelyn Milliken Benton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis A. Rider, Sr.; and seven siblings.
She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are her daughters, Loretta “Lorrie” Trogdon-Livingston and her wife, Debra Trogdon-Livington, of Gastonia, NC; Shelia Trogdon of Longwood, NC; and Amy Trogdon of Gastonia, NC; brother, Marvin Benton of Greenville, NC; sister, Lois Benton of Shallotte; cherished grandmother of Christopher Trogdon, Douglas Baines, Jr., and Emma Rodgers; cherished great grandmother of Ethan Lewis Rodgers and Landon Rider Williams; and her partner in crime, niece Louise Adams of Supply, NC.
Memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Friday, January 13, in the Chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
