Thomas Francis Herncane

Thomas Francis Herncane, 72, of Sunset Beach passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2018.

Tom was born in Blair County, PA to the late John and Ann (Keith) Herncane on May 5, 1946. He graduated from Pennsbury High School, Class of ’64. He was a two-time A.A.U. New Jersey State Champion in swimming and diving. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, and while stationed in Germany, he won the Army European Championship in the butterfly event and 2nd in the diving event. After serving his country, he made a home with his loving wife, Linda, in Fairless Hills, PA. He spent his career working in the steel industry. In retirement, he drove a school bus for his old alma mater, Pennsbury. In 1998, he and Linda moved to Sunset Beach, NC where he became an active member in the VFW. He was a member of Seaside United Methodist Church, where he was active in the food pantry. Tom also worked for the Town of Carolina Shores on the Maintenance Crew.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 51 years, Linda; sons, Brian Herncane and wife Jenifer of Williams Township, PA, Eric Herncane and husband David of Yardley, PA; granddaughter, Payton; brother, Allen Irwin “Tucker” Herncane and wife Heddy of Ft. Peters, FL; and many special nieces and nephews.

A memorial service with military honors is being planned for August in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Tom’s name to Seaside United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
