Obituary
Thomas Hogg “Tom” Sutherland, III died peacefully at his home in Ash, NC on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.
Tom was born on October 1, 1938, in Hartford, CT to Thomas II and Frances Neville Sutherland.
Tom spent much of his early life in Newburgh, NY where he met and married Mary Calhelhas. They celebrated 61 years in September 2023.
Tom was a US Marine Corps veteran and worked for many years as a roofing and siding contractor. Tom and Mary moved to North Carolina in 1995.
Tom is survived by his wife: Mary C. Sutherland; sisters: Mary Fisher and Fran Crosby; nieces: Rebecca (Mitchell) Brown, Tracy (Guy) Dougherty; nephew: Paul Fisher; and family friends: Lorraine DeGraff (Fred), Kelly Trotta and several other nieces and nephews.
Tom will be interred in Coastal Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery, Jacksonville, NC, on Friday, November 17, 2023, at 2:00 PM
