Thomas John “Tom” Wilmott of Calabash, NC passed away peacefully on Monday, March 10, 2025, after a courageous fight with cancer at the age of 72.
Tom was born in Bronx, NY to his late parents, Joseph F. Wilmott and Irene (Piekarski) Wilmott on December 8, 1952.
The family moved to Stamford, Connecticut, where Tom attended Saint Cecilia’s Catholic Elementary School. He graduated from Cranwell High School in Lenox, Massachusetts and went on to earn his B.S. in Political Science at Boston College, Class of 1974. After college, he returned to Stamford where he began his career at the Fidelity Trust Company, and then joined The Putnam Trust Company of Greenwich, Connecticut in their computer science operations. Tom took his talents to the Nine West Group, where he served as Vice President, Wholesale Systems, retiring in 2005.
Tom was a life-long NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. He participated in many sports over the years including, softball, cycling, and working out to stay fit. Above all, he was passionate about playing, watching, and talking about golf. His love for the game was one of the prime motivators in making the move to Coastal North Carolina in 2013. Along with picking up pine cones in the yard, feeding the birds & squirrels, he enjoyed just sitting peacefully on his patio, listening to his favorite music and looking out at the view of the sunsets and Azalea #2.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty Ann (Mancuso) Wilmott, family, and many great friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday April 1, 2025 at 10:00 am.
