Venda Sue Farmer

Venda Sue Farmer, 82, of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, passed away on July 31, 2026.

Born September 29, 1943, in Ivanhoe, VA, she was the daughter of the late Army Staff Sergeant Edgar Roscoe Sayers and Laura Sid Cox Sayers.

In addition to her parents, Venda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Gerald D. Farmer; three sisters, Opal, Joe, and Nancy; one brother, Buddy; and two grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Farmer and Christopher Jared Farmer of Shallotte.

She is survived by her five sons: Tracy Farmer and his wife, Robin G; Chris Farmer and his wife, Sarah; Randy Farmer and his wife, Robin B; David Farmer; and Tim Farmer and his wife, Chrissy. Her family lives throughout the Shallotte and Ocean Isle Beach area. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Venda was a dedicated business owner. She owned Palmetto Supply Co. in Little River, South Carolina; Red and White Grocery Store in Bolivia, North Carolina; and Hatteras Embroidery in Sunset Beach, North Carolina.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Venda will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of Venda’s life will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Brunswick Funeral Service Shallotte Chapel. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the service at 2:00 p.m.  Inurnment will follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens Columbarium.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wampee Baptist Church, 9530 SC-90, Longs, SC 29568, in support of its educational programs.
