Verda Mae Holder, 97, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC died Sunday, October 15, 2023.
Born in Exum, NC on May 1, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Ralph Edwards and Nicie Russ Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Gladys Dutton, Vara Edwards, Vesta Kelly, and Newton Edwards.
She was a devoted homemaker and a longtime member (47 years) of Jennies Branch Baptist Church.
Surviving are sons Raymond Holder, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC and Curt Holder (Valerie Brodar), of Colorado Springs, CO; daughters Barbara Santamaria, of Shallotte, NC, Gaila Smith (Carl), of Shallotte, NC, and Denise Lee (James), of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren Jacob Hugg, Shane Freeman, Josiah Santamaria (Jaclyn), Adam Santamaria (Krystal Febles), and Elizabeth Smith; great grandchildren Gillian Santamaria, Virginia Santamaria, and Ana Toro.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 27, 2023, in the Jennies Branch Baptist Church officiated by the Reverend Mark Smith.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Jennies Branch Baptist Church, 5256 Beach Dr SW, Shallotte, NC 28470.
