Vivian Sue Walters

Vivian “Sue” Everette Jones Walters, of Ocean Isle Beach, went to her heavenly home on May 19, 2024 after a brief battle with cancer. Sue was born on November 25, 1955 to Wilbur Lester Everette and Vera Elizabeth Everette in Lumberton, North Carolina. Sue was passionate about her belief in God and loved sharing His word in a positive, inspiring manner.

Sue’s greatest joy was being a mom to her son, Jeffrey Allen Jones and being “MiMi” to her grandsons, Jacob Allen Jones and Jackson McGuire Jones.

Sue graduated from Lumberton Senior High School in 1974 and completed courses at the community college. She began her work life in office support and management at Nichols Department Store in Lumberton, NC. She worked at Ritter Finance Company in Fairmont, NC and for attorney, Charlie Floyd, also in Fairmont. She was employed by BB&T in Fairmont, NC. She was a highly competent, conscientious employee who held various positions of responsibility throughout her work life. She was an active member of the American Business Women’s Association in the 70s and 80s. An avid reader, Sue was well-versed in many areas.

Over the years, Sue enjoyed many travels with her sisters. They would roam about creating exciting adventures and wonderful memories, traveling from the North Carolina mountains to the shores of Maryland to Saint Augustine, Florida. Sue enjoyed spending time with her sisters and they loved having her along.

Sue and her husband, J.E. Walters relocated to Ocean Isle Beach in the early 2000s to enjoy their retirement. Sue enjoyed a quiet, peaceful life with many friends and beloved neighbors. She was an active member of Emmanuel Outreach Church serving as treasurer for several terms.

While living at Ocean Isle Beach, Sue enjoyed searching for true treasures in the local thrift shops. She enjoyed repurposing home goods with her friend, Carolyn. She and her husband, J.E. enjoyed boating and “beach life”. Sue loved socializing with family and friends, always, displaying her joyous sense of humor.

Sue loved to sing and had an excellent voice that brought joy to many as a youth. She was a fan of Beach Music and Contemporary Christian Music and enjoyed it to the end.

Sue will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Allen Jones (Jenni) of Angier, NC and grandsons, Jacob Allen Jones and Jackson McGuire Jones of Holly Springs, NC; her mother, Vera Elizabeth Grooms of Lumberton, NC; brothers, Wilbert Leslie Everette (Doris) of Greensboro and Daryel Wayne Everette (Margo) of Lumberton and sisters, Linda Kaye Smith of Lumberton and Carol Everette Hilbert (Bob) of Greensboro.
