Obituary
William “Bill” Benton, 69, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017. He was diagnosed with colon cancer one month earlier.
He was born May 24, 1947 in Pittsburgh, PA son of the late William Joseph Benton, Sr. and Emma Harford Benton. He graduated from Youngstown State with a degree in Civil Engineering. Bill and his wife, Cathy, lived in Hudson, OH, Thousand Oaks, CA and Severna Park, MD where they raised their two daughters.
Bill was a Special Agent for the US Secret Service for 20 years, retiring in 1996. He later worked for the Social Security Administration Officer of the Inspector General and the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration until 2008. Bill and Cathy made Ocean Isle Beach, NC their home in 2012, enjoying retirement living on a golf course.
Bill is survived his wife of 45 years, Cathy Ann Benton; their daughters, Rachael and Breanne; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Paul Benton, and sister, Emma Chearney.
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 3rd, at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte, NC.
