William David Scheff, Jr.
Obituary
William “Bill” David Scheff Jr., 85, of Shallotte, NC, passed away Sunday evening Aug 28, 2016. He was 85. He leaves behind as his legacy, his beloved wife of 62 years, Frances Scheff (Schuster), his sons William Paglia-Scheff and his wife Megan; Scott Scheff and his wife Diane; the late Eric Scheff (1985); 8 grandchildren Victoria, Todd, Stefanie, Katelyn, Andrew, Matthew, Sara, and Jasper; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Born in Freeport, Long Island, NY in 1930, Bill served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1950-52, separating from the service as a Corporal. He went on to work at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft manufacturing engines for civilian and military aircraft for over 31 years. Together, he and his wife fulfilled their dreams of living by the ocean when they moved to the coast of North Carolina in the early nineties.
Bill will be remembered by his family, friends and even the faintest acquaintances as a gregarious, generous man who spent many a day working on projects for his family, church, and community. His infectious enthusiasm for life was exhibited in every encounter, with every person, every day. As an active member of his church, Seaside United Methodist, the Marine Corps League, and various other civic organizations, he impacted many lives with his wit, charm, and generosity.
Bill was an avid player and spectator of football, baseball, softball, golf and various other sports. Win or lose, he could always be counted on to crack a joke and ensure the event was enjoyable for all.
As per his wishes, there will not be a memorial or formal funeral service.
