Obituary
William “Bill” Henry Oakley, Jr., 82, of Sunset Beach passed away July 21, 2020. He was born in Alamance County, NC on June 4, 1938, a son of William Henry Oakley, Sr. and Mary Kimbro Oakley. He became a great handyman after retiring from long haul truck driving.
Mr. Oakley was a dear and trusted friend who delighted in introducing friends to friends, but nothing brought him greater joy than his family. He truly enjoyed people and exemplified this in his care and compassion for others. We will remember his humility, service, and character.
Surviving are the love of his life his wife, Sandra Eleanor Hamby Oakley; sons, Roger Dale Oakley (Beth) of Haw River and Darrin Oakley (Melissa) of Supply; daughter, Laurie Oakley of Greensboro; and loving grandchildren, Shane, Stephanie, Blake, Jaxon and Parker.
There will be a period of visitation beginning at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 23, 2020, at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte Chapel, followed by a private service for the family. Social Distancing will be practiced. Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 25 in Alamance Memorial Park.
Memorials may be sent to the charity of your choice or to Seatrails Property Owners Association, POB 6040, Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469 of which Bill was a founding member.
