On November 10, 2025, we lost our beloved William Joseph Istvan “aka Bill” - “aka Papa”
A man who could fix literally anything but could never be told when to slow down. Born on February 25, 1945, in Dobbs ferry, NY. Bill grew up with a resilience that resulted in always finding a way to get done, whatever needed to be done. He loved the thrill of a treasure hunt and had a knack for seeing the value in things that others couldn’t see. His comebacks were instant, his humor was one of a kind, and he never missed a chance to tease with a grin.
Bill cherished all 61 years that he spent beside his wife, Barbara Istvan, his high school sweetheart. Bill was loyally devoted to his family. He was a Father to, Roy Istvan and Deborah Istvan, a Grandfather to Danielle Wertman, Nicholas Wertman, Jaylin Istvan, Kambria Istvan and Zachariah Istvan, a Great-Grandfather to Jaiden Vaught, Elijah Hunt, and Armani Hunt, and also a Mentor and close friend to Davonte Hunt. Bill left an unforgettable impression on all who experienced him. He will truly and awfully be missed.
