Obituary
William Roger Lesnewski, 81, of Calabash, North Carolina passed away peacefully on March 12, 2017.
Known as Roger to his family and friends, he was the son of John Lewis and Mary (Buchko) Lesnewski of Yonkers, New York.
For 56 years, Roger was married to the love of his life, Mary Patricia Lesnewski. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children; Nancy (Timothy) Knapp of Rocky Mount, NC; Kevin (Ann Marie) Lesnewski of Buffalo, NY and Steven Lesnewski of Troy, NY; his five grandchildren Benjamin, Kristopher, Madison, Christen, Chelsea and two great grandchildren; sister in-law, Frances (Richard) Jewell of Wexford, PA and brother Conrad Lesnewski of Camden, DE and many nieces and nephews.
Roger retired from the New York State Police to become a successful fruit farmer in Hudson, New York before retiring to Calabash, NC. During his 17 years in Calabash, Roger became a member of the North Strand Sail & Power Squadron serving in many leadership roles. He willingly shared his love of boating and navigation skills to all he met and taught. Roger enjoyed fishing, traveling, and vacations with his family, especially his grandchildren. His keen wit and humor will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 3pm at the Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte Chapel on 5229 Ocean Highway West, Shallotte NC. The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 1pm to 3pm.
