Williams Russell “Russ” Grissett, 57, of Nakina, NC died Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

Born in Columbus County on May 24, 1966, the son of the late William Alton “Billy” Grissett and Peggy Ann Russ Grissett.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Renee Simmons.

Prior to his illness he was employed by Seawright Farms.  He was a member (27 years) of Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church where he taught Adult Sunday School and a member of the Old Dock and Pireway Hunting Clubs and an avid raccoon hunter.

Surviving is his wife Melissa Stephens Grissett; son Jeremy Grissett and daughter Sarah Grissett, all of Nakina, NC; a sister Jill Eddin (Ed), of Bailey, NC; nieces Jillian Simmons, Jessica Blackmon, Taylor Spivey, Brittany Tuberville, and Kenzi Spivey.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 11:00AM in Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church, 8428 Hallsboro Rd South, Whiteville, NC 28472.  A burial will follow in the Mintz Cemetery, Mintz Cemetery Road NW, Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church and at other times from the residence of Sarah Grissett, 1065 Poley Bridge Church Road, Nakina, NC  28455.
